Stylist: Would you like a trim today?
Client: Do I need one? (Clients turns to mirror)Let me see how much you going to cut? Stylist: You need to cut off this much____ Client: That's a lot can you just take a little bit off_, I'll do the rest next time About 30 per cent of my clients tense up when it is time for a trim. Some of these stylist have really scared a lot of women. I feel like once I get to the point where I can trim a new clients hair that I have reached a safe zone. And the biggestttttt fear is LENGTH RETENTION!! So then the question, "Does trim make your hair grow"? The hair is no the ends and the follicle are not connected. A trim removes dead hair and split ends, there is no stimulation taken place in order to increase growth. When they are not removed they can cause the hair to continue to split further up the hair shaft, which then forces the stylist to cut more hair. Trims should be done every 6-8 weeks, however I have noticed that chemically treated hair may need to be done more often.
